Chipping Away

So. According to Family Search, Napoleon died in 1909. I'm not sure where that date came from...I can't verify it, but there you are. He was living in Missouri. Unfortunately, Missouri didn't require its counties to record deaths until 1910. There are no surviving records from Dunklin County from before 1910. Bummer. I couldn't find ANY information yesterday morning-it was very frustrating.

I've been trying to do better at scripture study. So far my plan is to read a talk out of the Ensign and have that topic fuel my scripture study for the week. This week's topic is learning to listen to the Spirit. I hadn't read my scriptures before I launched into family history. I gave up on the computer yesterday morning, and read for a little while. I got back on the Missouri death records website. The death records are only available starting in 1910. Well, I typed in Maguire in Dunklin County, and one death certificate popped up. I found the certificate for Sadie Maguire. Her parents are listed as Polie Maguire and Annie Pierce. Excellent. :) She died when she was two months old. If Polie Maguire died in 1909 and your baby girl died the very next year, wouldn't you bury her next to her dad? They list Sadie as buried in Senath Cemetery. I'm hoping that Polie is buried there as well, with more information. I called the caretaker, and he's going to go look for any information that might help me out. I'm going to call him back today. I hope he found something!

Moral of the story: I can't just wing it. In order to find anything, I'm going to have to be in tune with the Spirit.
