Isaac Gibbs-Civil War

Hi Cousins-

I've been researching some Civil War records. It's interesting to think that our ancestors actually experienced this historical event. Isaac Gibbs lived next door to Charles McGuire and his family. He was Charles' brother-in-law. Here are his military records.

I've searched the 1860 census. There's only one Isaac Gibbs in Missouri. But I've found military records of Isaac Gibbs on both sides of the Civil War.

He fought with the 1st Battallion Fremont Rangers, Missouri Home Guard. He served from August 18, 1861 to December 10, 1861.

He fought for the Confederacy.

Kennett, Missouri is the county seat of Dunklin County, Missouri. It's right next to Pemiscot County.
Isaac Gibbs enlisted on Sept. 2, 1862.

Isaac Gibbs lists his residence as Greene County, Arkansas on this report.

This is the small writing in the top left.
"was conscripted in March 1863 by Kitchens of the Rebel army. Deserted the same in July 1863. Took this Oath and is required to reside in New Madrid County, Missouri.

So he is listed as living in Pemiscot Co, Missouri in 1860. He moved to Greene County Arkansas sometime after that, and was forced to move to New Madrid County. He's living in that area in 1864.

Isaac's physical description is listed here.

Age: Twenty-five years
Height: 5 feet 7 inches
Color of Eyes: Hazel
Color of Hair: Black
Weight: 130 lbs

Then in 1864, there was a Union draft. Isaac Gibbs is listed.  He is 25 years old and living in Prairie Township, Pemiscot, Missouri. FYI-Charles is also listed-he's living in the Virginia Township, Pemiscot Missouri.

I'm a rookie when it comes to military records. Any history buffs out there?
